Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday - Movember 14-16, 2011 a few guys went to Cross Point camp at Lake Texoma to do some repair work. I had a great time and it looks like the others did as well. Been traveling ot OKC to see Grandson play soccer and watch youngest Grandson run around. It is a lot of fun but seems like the games are really short, 30 minutes at max. Well, it is still fun and I really like getting to see them as often as we can.

Kept the two grandkids part of this last weekend. We had fun and I think they did also. The youngest likes chasing his brother and tickling him. Our Grandson, Trent, seems to enjoy playing TBall in OKC. I think he really likes being in the center around the pitcher's mound as he gets more action. It has been so hot that some games have been cancelled so pray for relief from the heat and rain as well because it is just way too dry. We had a great trip to Utah to hear the Morman Tabernacle Choir, see the Beehive House, the 2002 Winter Parks Olympic site, the Grand Teton Mountains, Jackson Hole, West Yellowstone, and of course Yellowstone itself. We probably spent too much but had fun seeing wildlife, shopping, seeing a play of "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers", and just relaxing in a cool climate. Coming back to hot Oklahoma

Baltimore Oriole and More!

Caught this oriole drinking from a hummingbird feeder. Also, I know some say the birds do not need suet during the summer, but my birds like it. Here is a gold finch and a woodpecker, enjoying the feast. I did not know the oriole would eat from the HB feeder like that but he kept coming back so I snapped the evidence of such a sighting.

Went to Bartlesville on Friday, April 30 and came home on Saturday, May 1. Had a great time staying at the Price Tower hotel and then went on a benefit train ride from Bartlesville to near Oscelata. It took an hour for the ride and was fun but not too scenic. Enjoyed antiquing, eating, etc. while in the Bartlesville area. It is a neat city and fun to view from the 10th floor of the Price Tower.

Drinking coffee this morning was fun as the deer came to strut their stuff. The treat was a buck that really stayed for quite sometime. Winter in Okmulgee

We had a few days to stay home in the cold in January with 5 or 6 inches of snow. It was an easy snow to shovel away and looked great on the deck and back fence. The pictures show the cardinals and other birds enjoying the winter snow. The deer liked the fact that there was corn there for them to eat. I think the birds flock to the feeders when the weather is changing.

I Love My Gate!

Ken with a friend from church, Pete, installed a gate on the back fence in January 2010 which makes it much easier to feed the deer behind the fence. I could not have done it without Pete's help. Jon, Alyssa, Trent, PaPa, and Bamma went to Cotton Bowl. Although the game was quite disappointing we really had fun with the family and especially the grandson. Seeing the new Cotton Bowl Stadium was really a treat. We had seats high up but close to 50 yard line and could see down to the field quite well. It was a great trip but the loss was hard to swallow.

Had a great one-day trip to Ponca City with the First Priority Club to see the Marland Grand Home and Mansion as well as Christmas Lights at Ponca Lake. It was fun and really neat to see and hear about how the elite lived in the oil boom days.

Here come the Bats out of the old train tunnel that was built in 1913 but discontinued the use of in the 1940's. We have never been to Carlsbad at the right time to see the bats come out so this was a spectacular mini-version. It was really great to see almost 200,000 bats come out the end of the tunnel in about 7 minutes.

We went on a Mystery Trip with our Bank Group to tour the Fort Gibson historic site and National Cemetary, check out the Three Rivers marina in Muskogee, eat at Rockabilly's (great hamburgers), and visit a ranch in Beggs where a horse whisperer gentled a horse. We also saw an old Model A Ford that looked awesome. Had a great time with all and enjoyed the dream of traveling the riverways on a boat.

Ken heard about the Martha Stewart salad table that she built on her show so he just had to find scrap lumber and make himself one. We went to OKC on April 26 to keep Trent while Jon, Alyssa, & Bethany ran the OKC Memorial Run. Jon ran the full marathon and Alyssa & Bethany ran the half-marathon. All finished with Trent and us cheering them on. It was a great time to be all together.

We have been enjoying football gamedays at OSU/Stillwater. We have season tickets alongside our son and DIL's seats. A week ago we took our grandson to the game. A one-year-old at a big stadium? Getting Daughter Moved

Have been in Iowa off and on for a couple of weeks getting an apartment for our daughter and getting her moved. Had fun, but Ken tripped and blackened one eye (now almost healed), and we're tired of moving stuff. Thanks to Ken's brother for selling her the bedroom furniture and letting us use a trailer to haul it all up there. It took about 12 hours to get there with the trailer all loaded down.

We got snow while we were there, ran errands, and even saw Timberlake High School play basketball. Nephew Drew and his girl friend were crowned homecoming king and queen. Had a great visit and a good time.

We have returned from our week-long trip up north to visit our daughter for Thanksgiving. We had the traditional turkey and trimmings on Sunday afternoon with her and several of her college buds. Talihina Foliage Trip

Roger, Edward, & Ken went on the foliage trip from Talihina, OK to Mena, AR. We saw neat colors of trees as well as some trains. We stopped and had a buffalo sandwich in Talihina and dessert at the Wilhelmina Lodge. It was fun and the colors were great but a lot of time in the car. Thanks to Roger for driving.

Finished projects

I finished grandson's Ch'mas sweater vest! Had to redo the shoulder seams and the armhole n neck trim once or twice until I was happy with the finished look. Then I started on some mittens for him. Also finished seaming up a hobo bag I knitted on the train to Ft. Worth in September. Here is the black n white scarf I started last winter for my mom; it has a simple cable running up the middle. I

New Tree!

After hunting in nurseries and on the internet, Ken decided a dogwood is the best replacement for our departed pine tree. He dug up an area around the old stump site, chopped out roots, laid a rock border, and planted a white flowering dogwood and two forsythia shrubs. Looks quite nice.

Our pine tree is gone! Apparently it suffered a great deal in last year's drought. This fall most of the needles were turning brown. At first we thought it might be a beetle infestation. Pix coming soon. Now Ken is preparing to plant 1 to 3 new saplings, probably one a Chinese pitasch. KT

This is our first greenhouse. Currently Ken is building a landing/porch for the greenhouse, and sealing some leaks. He has a Meyer lemon tree AND a lime tree waiting to occupy the GH.Remember, the panther watches everything.
